Osteoporosis - is it reversible?
When the body reaches a high level of acidity, it takes minerals from your bones to neutralize the excess acids. In borrowing these minerals, the bones become porous, and develops into a condition called "osteoporosis."
Is this happening to you?
In Canada and the US, it is estimated that 1 in 2-3 women and 1 in 4-5 men will have an osteopathic fracture. 80% of hip fractures in those over 50 are caused by Osteoporosis.
What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis literally means porous bones (“osteo” bones, “porosis” porous); they become weak and brittle and break easily. Bones give the body its structure, i.e. keep you up straight. At their most basic level, bones have a soft matrix structure. What gives them their rigidity are minerals: calcium, phosphorus, fluoride, and magnesium.
When Osteoporosis is suspected, you are given a Bone Mineral Density test to compare the weight of minerals to the volume of bone (excluding bone marrow). A reduction in minerals means that your bones are becoming more porous. They lose their rigidity, making you increasingly vulnerable to fractures. This is referred to as having a Low Bone Mass or a Low Bone Density.
Where do the minerals go?
That’s a good question. To answer it, we have to look into why the body “borrows” minerals from the bones:
By design, the body is a finely tuned system where balance is everything. The balance we are referring to here is “pH” balance (or potential Hydrogen). pH is simply a measure of acidity and alkalinity of the body. A pH below 7 is acidic, and above is alkaline - a score of 7.2, i.e. slightly alkaline, is considered to be just right. The body needs acid for digestion. Yet your cells (the building blocks of everything in your body) and the chemical reactions inside them, as well as your beneficial bacteria in your gut, and your immune system all work better in a slightly alkaline environment.
And so, if your body becomes acidic, it needs neutralizing minerals to balance out the pH. (This balancing out is vital, especially considering the fact that a high level of acidity in the body is a principal cause of cancer.) The main source of the needed minerals is diet; however, there are other key sources, such as exercise, sunshine, and Vitamin D.
If your body cannot extract the minerals it needs from daily sources, it takes them from its very own mineral storehouse – your bones. 99% of calcium, 85% phosphorus, 60% magnesium, and nearly all of your body’s fluoride are in the bones. It is these minerals that give rigidity to your bone structure.
By taking these minerals from your bones to neutralize the excess acidity, the rigidity of your bones is being surrendered. (If it didn’t do this, your blood could become too acidic, and you could go into a coma.) Your kidneys are working overtime trying to correct this pH imbalance by purging the excess acid. If they can’t keep up, your body is forced to draw on the mineral content in your bones to make itself more alkaline.
Unfortunately, as the minerals in your bones are reduced, you may develop diseases that affect and deform your bones, such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, rickets, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and cancer of the bones.
Toxic Osteoporosis - stage 1
This initial stage is caused quite simply by our conscious, and unconscious, choices that we make concerning lifestyle (smoking and drinking) and diet (highly acidic foods, especially rich in sugar or sodium chloride). Unmanaged stress, lack of regular exercise, and even certain acid-forming medications are also big contributors.
Unable to cope with a high level of acidity, the body is forced to take minerals from the bones to neutralize excess acids. In borrowing these minerals, the bones become porous, and Osteoporosis develops.
The solution for toxic osteoporosis stage 1 should be fairly clear. If you want to stop the body from raiding your bones for minerals, then change your diet to be more nutritious, supplement your mineral intake, stop smoking, cut down or eliminate alcohol altogether, and take up weight-bearing exercises, such as Tai Chi, or Liangong Shi Ba Fa. This may sound somewhat drastic, but looking at the causes of Osteoporosis, the solution begins to take shape.
Toxic Osteoporosis - Stage 2
Now this is where the situation becomes really serious:
When your body takes minerals from your bones to balance its pH, the bones become porous, and gaps appear in their matrix structure. To fill the gaps, and counteract Osteoporosis, your body searches for minerals to fill the bone structure - when it can’t find them, it uses toxic heavy metals instead. These heavy metals, such as mercury and lead, become implanted into your bones, where they sit and leech acid. Heavy metals are foreign substances for which the body has no defense. They become a source of acidity, which further adds to the acidity of your body, and the cycle of ill-health continues.
Too much acidity and not enough good minerals create more problems - toxic bones. Medical research is now showing us how much our health is being affected by heavy metals that we have absorbed through our diet, water, and the air we breathe. The question is: Do heavy metals stay in your bones for life?
Bone turnover - what happens?
All cells in the body replace themselves over time. Your entire skeleton replaces itself every ten years. The quality of the replacement cells will be dictated by the health cycle you are in: either a natural cycle of good health or an unnatural cycle of ill-health. If your body is in the latter cycle, stored heavy metals can be released from your bones, only to be put back into circulation, where they can do even more damage.

Women in menopause are particularly susceptible to developing Osteoporosis because of the hormonal changes that occur and an increased demand for calcium that causes their bodies to take calcium from their bones and create bone gaps. This leaves their bones vulnerable to heavy metal accumulation.
What we need is a way to remove these acids and toxic heavy metals safely, so our bodies can settle back into their natural cycle of good health.
So what can you do to create healthy bones?
To reduce this high level of acidity, you need to consider two steps:
Purge your body of the excess acid and heavy metals
Add new sources of alkalizing minerals through diet and supplements such as chlorella
