Flu season - a new focus

Flu season - a new focus

This time of year, usually cold and damp, is "the flu season.” As for flu shots, it's often a case of: “should I or shouldn’t I?”

There is another, less obvious aspect to influenza: a high level of acidity in the body, referred to (somewhat confusingly) as a "low" pH score. This high acidity impairs your protection against the flu virus, but it is something you can change.

Boosting your immune system and lowering your vulnerability to the virus - could this be an alternative to flu shots? What about the mercury/flu debate?

Your immune system needs you
To be healthy and stay healthy, your immune system has to have access to every cell. Your circulatory system is your internal defence, and needs to be free-flowing. To achieve this, you need to keep clean internally, staying free of acidic wastes and substances, especially heavy metals.

Your energy level needs to be high enough for your cells and immune system to function properly, allowing them to:

  • Move nutrients into your cells and removing the toxins;
  • Remove the acidic wastes and toxic substances that the bad microbes thrive on;
  • Maintain your body’s alkalinity;  and
  • Ensure your immune systems reach all parts of your body to identify, arrest, and eliminate all foreign invaders, such as flu microbes.
  • Without this energy, your immune system cannot protect you, especially against influenza.

Hindering your health
Acidic internal pollution, such as foreign chemicals, and substances that should never have been inside you in the first place, hinder your vitality and health. The main offenders are heavy metals, especially lead, and mercury. Almost everyone has accumulated these toxic poisons by now, breathing in and absorbing various sources of industrial and environmental pollution.

Heading the list as the most poisonous heavy metal of all is mercury.

Mercury as a neurotoxin
"One in every six women of childbearing age has enough mercury in their bloodstream to cause neurological damage to their unborn children.” (The US Environmental Protection Agency.)

Mercury is very harmful to your body, especially to your nerve cells. Children are especially vulnerable because they have such little bodies and their nervous systems are still developing.

The flu shots/mercury debate continues
The traditional defence against influenza is vaccination; a small dose of a virus is injected with the intention of building up a defence against further exposure to the same virus. This established procedure is believed to be largely effective, although everyone is likely to know someone who has been given a flu shot, only to develop a full case of flu promptly afterward.

However, the main source of the current debate about flu shots is about the use of thimerosal, 49% of which is mercury. Although only intended as a preservative against contamination by germs, bacteria, and fungi, it is still injected into your body.

Thimerosal is used in multi-dose vials, i.e. vials containing more than one dose. Single-dose vials, which are thimerosal-free, were created later by the drug companies. The introduction of single-dose vials was in response to public concerns over the risks for infants and pregnant women

Can mercury really be harmless?
In drawing attention to the 49% mercury content of thimerosal, Dr. Mercola raises a key point: if it's unsafe to breathe or ingest mercury, why would it suddenly become harmless when injected directly into your body, bypassing all of your body's natural detoxification pathways?

“There is no safe level of mercury, and no one has actually shown that there is a safe level,” confirms Dr. Lars Friberg, Chief Adviser to the WHO on mercury safety.

Whatever the source, it ought to be very clear that it is wise to avoid all sources of mercury. A heavy metal, such as mercury, all by itself, creates many adverse effects but, when combined with the other heavy metals that may be in your body already, has a compounding effect on a staggering scale, as we will see in the next paragraph.

Compounding effect of heavy metals
According to Dr. Hal Higgins of Colorado Springs, Colorado, “Combination of substances in toxicology can be greater than the sum of the parts: with lead and mercury, for instance, a toxicity rating of 1 for each mercury and lead equals not 2, but 60 – when combined.”

One of the biggest problems with heavy metals is that they create acidic pH. That is what causes bad microbes such as the flu to flourish - they thrive in acidic pH.

There can be little doubt that mercury is not harmless.

So, if you are considering having a flu shot and you are not comfortable about being injected with mercury, ask for a thimerosal-free vaccination.

What else you can do?
When your lymph system becomes congested with a variety of toxic wastes, your entire body’s defense support is affected. Your body cannot cleanse your cells when your lymph and circulatory systems are clogged, toxic poisons accumulating inside your cells and body.

Good health and an open, free-flowing circulatory system go hand and hand. You need to get your circulation moving freely again.

Once it is flowing freely again, your immune system can advance the health of your cells, bringing nutrients and clearing away the toxic wastes. Your body can then purge acidic toxic wastes that flu microbes feed on, elevating your energy level and restoring your health.

If you begin to develop flu symptoms, you need to address the cause of the core problem. This can be achieved by rebalancing your biochemistry, moving your pH score over to the healthy, i.e. alkaline, side. Wellness will naturally follow suit.

Sometimes recovery takes longer if the pH has been chronically acidic for years. This requires greater unraveling to get back to an alkaline pH balance. Once you do, health returns.

Helping your body to help itself
Yes, there is something you can do to help avoid the flu this season: simply help your body’s immune system to function properly and effectively in a clean internal environment. You can do this by clearing the accumulated toxicity and help your body to protect itself.
